Pulau Redang (Redang Islands)

Redang Island offers some of the best diving and snorkeling in this of the the world with its rich marine life, sandy beaches and clear waters. Redang is one of the largest islands off the east coast of Malaysia. It is a popular holiday island for Malaysians, most of whom come on package deals to one of the resorts. Redang is one of nine islands, which form a marine park, and which offer snorkeling and diving opportunities. It is also perfect place for jungle trekking, boating and canoeing.

This is your chance to see and be acquainted with the local eel, giant grouper, black tipped shark, etc. Chance encounter with the Green turtle and Hawksbill turtle is common. There are corals of every imaginable shape, size or color. The observant are rewarded with sights of flatworm, nudibranch, shrimp, squid, cuttlefish, stonefish, lionfish and pipefish.

The quaint and colourful building housing the souvenier shop rose to fame as a key settings in the Hong Kong movie "Summer Holiday" starring Richie Ren and Sammi Cheng. Today, fans of the movie come from far and wide to visit the location.

The best time to visit Redang is between March to October. Take note that most resorts are closed during the Northeast Monsoon, which blows from November to February.

Access is from Merang Jetty or Syahbandar jetty on boats operated by the resorts.

Alternative 1: From Changi Airport, take flight to Kuala Lumpur (LCCT). From Kuala Lumpur, take a flight to Kuala Terengganu. (From Changi, you may choose Tiger Airways or Air Asia. From Kuala Lumpur, you can only travel with Air Asia)

Alternative 2: From Changi Aiport, take flight to Kuala Lumpur (KLIA). From Kuala Lumpur, take a flight to Kuala Terengganu. (From Changi, you may choose Silk Air, Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines or Jetstar. From Kuala Lumpur, you can only travel with Air Asia)

Alternative 3: Travel by bus. Konsortium, Five Star and Transnasional provide this service direct from Singapore. From Larkin,Johor Bharu, more bus services are provided such as SP Bumi, Transnasional, Maju Ekspress, Adik Beradik, Mara Liner, Shamisha Holiday, Cepat Ekspress and etc.

Alternative 4: Berjaya Air (Direct from Singapore to Berjaya Redang)
